Spirit of the times

The importance of learning and developing through natural play

Our society has become so target-orientated and time-pressed, being in nature and playing with nature couldn’t be more beneficial to our children. Natural play has well documented health, wellbeing and learning benefits and can easily be part of every day. Our designs and products are made to enhance the natural experience, encourage spontaneous and child-initiated action whilst being manufactured in a way that sustains the countryside.

Increasingly, school grounds are becoming the only outside space that children and young people have regular access to. It is essential to provide a safe refuge where they can learn, play and have fun. For many they represent a child’s only contact with nature. Regular learning and playing in outdoor environments can improve attainment and behaviour, health and wellbeing, socialisation and teacher job satisfaction.

At Copper Beech Play we have a wealth of positive testimonials from children, architects, councillors and parents. We have been awarded the Schumacher Award for small scale sustainable development and the Permaculture Community Award.

But above all else we’ve a heartfelt wish for all children to play outside and experience wellbeing in nature.

If you would like more information about the natural play equipment and playgrounds that Copper Beech Play design and install  you can download our brochure. Please feel free to share our information with your colleagues, friends and families.

I thought you might like to see some photographs of the play equipment in situ? It is fabulous and really fits in well in that area at the back of the garden. My clients and I are really happy with the play equipment and I know the kids will get years of enjoyment out of it.

The balance beams are fantastic and a wonderful addition to our community garden! We've placed them next to a woodland area and they are well used for sitting on, walking along and generally having fun on by all generations.

Copper Beech designed and built a fantastic garden at Rainbows Nursery in 2007. The work completely revitalised the whole outdoor area and impacted on how the whole nursery functioned, creating an exciting free flow indoors and outdoors way of working.
